CANDLE CARE

How to burn your candle:

1.        Light your candle away from drafts, pets, and children in a well- ventilated room.  Please note that drafts can give a rapid, uneven burning and could cause black sooting around the candle jar.

Please ensure your lit candle is at least 12 inches away from interior walls and protect the surface upon which your candle sits.

All very important.

2.       Burn regular sized candles for one to two hours at a time. We advise allowing the candle melt pool to reach the sides of the candle jar, this will reduce tunnelling which is when there is a build up of wax around the sides of the candle jar.  If burning for longer periods of time (over four hours), may cause the wick to move or fall on its side.

3.       Make sure you stop burning your candle when there is 10mm of wax remains at the bottom.

VERY IMPORTANT!

KEEP AN EYE ON A BURNING CANDLE AT ALL TIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WAX IS LOW.

KEEP AWAY FROM WINDOWS, MIRRORS AND ANY CONTRAST IN SURFACE TEMPERATURE.

KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN, PETS & LIQUIDS.

Taking care of your wick:

1.         Ensure the wax pool is clear of matches, wick trimmings and other debris, such items could cause additional wicks and encourage your candle to burn faster.

2.       After you have extinguished your candle with a snuffer, centre and straighten your wick upright whilst the wax is still hot. Burning the candle for too long can cause the wick to move, dislodge or slant.  If you see the wick has moved and close to the candle jar wall, extinguish with a snuffer immediately, straighten the wick to prevent the candle jar from cracking.

3.       Long or crooked wicks can create high flames, or sooting. Trimming the wick to 5mm before the candle is lit will prevent this.
