OUR STORY
The Prestbury Candle Company make luxury artisan candles in small batches from our workshop. The journey began in 2017 with oyster shell tealights, handmade for the Prestbury Christmas Street Market. Our love of nature walks by the coast and in the local countryside became the most important thing for us, and we have grown from there. We put great design at the heart of what we do.
Before establishing The Prestbury Candle Company, co-founders Jo Vickers & Fiona Hunter worked in the creative industries. Jo is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University and trained in Sculpture at Chelsea school of Art. She loves making. Fi worked as a luxury sales executive with a focus on PR. Both Jo & Fi are art and landscape lovers.
Our signature range is The Landscape Range, featuring favourites such as THE EDGE, WHITE NANCY, BOSLEY CLOUD, TEGG’S NOSE & MACC FOREST. The Landscape Range is a collection of classic English botanical fragrances. Our candles are inspired by the botany and fragrances of the Cheshire countryside.
Our Special Editions have been developed in response to our customers feedback & requests for their favourite candles in a larger size. So a larger size was born ! The Special Editions are: THE EDGE noir & WHITE NANCY blanc. They come in 30cl black glass and 30cl white glass.
We love the seasons so you will see our seasonal range change as the next season calls.
Our packaging is made from 100% recycled card so you can feel good about your purchase and its low impact.
PLANTS, WAX & WICKS
The Prestbury Candle Company make each candle by blending premium waxes and fragrances to bring you lovely interior products that recollect the great outdoors. Elegantly packaged, our candles make beautiful unique gifts for your friends, family and for you. Our packaging is made in the Uk from quality recycled materials, cotton wicks and where possible we endeavour to be low impact & plastics free. Our fragrances are cruelty free, and have not been tested on animals. We often re-use cardboard & bubble wrap packaging from our wax orders for our secondary packaging in our deliveries. Good sustainable design is important to us and is at the heart of who we are and what we do.
WHITWORTH ART GALLERY
We love landscape walks, landscape photography & landscape painting ! This passion led us to license a landscape painting from The Whitworth Art Gallery collection, Manchester as our company image.
The landscape painting that we love, whilst being of the countryside outside Naples, reminds us of the topography & spirit of The Edge, Alderley Edge. It is by British painter, Thomas Jones, who travelled extensively through Britain and Italy in the 18th century to make paintings ‘en plein air’. We hope you love our ‘en plein air’ candles too !
